Overview

Fractional CO₂, Er:YAG and picosecond lasers offer different trade-offs between downtime and result. A consultation should map your skin type, concern and tolerance to recovery before selecting the right device.

How it works

Fractional lasers create thousands of microscopic thermal columns, leaving healthy tissue between each for rapid healing. Ablative (CO₂, Er:YAG) removes tissue for deep remodeling. Non-ablative (picosecond, 1927 nm) heats without removing — safer for darker skin and shorter downtime.

• Deep photoageing, wrinkles and skin laxity (ablative)
• Pigmentation, sun damage and mild texture (non-ablative)
• Acne scars — often layered with microneedling and subcision
• Fitzpatrick I–III for ablative; all types for non-ablative with correct device

Recovery

Ablative: 5–10 days redness, peeling, swelling. Non-ablative: 24–72 hours. Strict SPF for 3 months. Best scheduled autumn/winter.
