How long do dermal fillers last?

Longevity depends on product, area and metabolism. Here is a realistic range for the most common areas.

Why longevity varies

Hyaluronic acid fillers are gradually broken down by the body. Areas with more movement, such as the lips, tend to metabolise filler faster than static areas like the cheeks or chin.

Typical ranges

As a broad guide, lip filler often lasts around 6–12 months, while cheek and chin filler can last 12–18 months or more. Manufacturers' data and individual results vary.

Can it be dissolved?

HA fillers can usually be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is one reason HA products are the most common choice for first-time patients.
